Gâteau au Yaourt (French Yogurt Cake)

Ingredients

  • 1 cup plain yogurt (use the empty cup to measure the rest)
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 3 eggs
  • 2 cups self‑raising flour
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • Zest of 1 lemon (optional)

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 180 °C (350 °F). Grease a loaf or round cake tin.
  • In a large bowl, whisk yogurt, sugar, oil, eggs, vanilla, and zest until smooth.
  • Gently fold in flour until just combined.
  • Pour into tin, bake 30–35 min until golden and a skewer comes out clean.
  • Cool slightly before slicing.
