Gâteau au Yaourt (French Yogurt Cake)

- 1 cup plain yogurt (use the empty cup to measure the rest)
- 1 cup sugar
- 1/2 cup vegetable oil
- 3 eggs
- 2 cups self‑raising flour
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- Zest of 1 lemon (optional)
Preheat oven to 180 °C (350 °F). Grease a loaf or round cake tin.
In a large bowl, whisk yogurt, sugar, oil, eggs, vanilla, and zest until smooth.
Gently fold in flour until just combined.
Pour into tin, bake 30–35 min until golden and a skewer comes out clean.
Cool slightly before slicing.
